I am in Las Vegas from Oct 16-21st.... WHAT TO DO?

Sign in to disble this ad
All,

Any ideas? I am at a work event but need to get out and see some good bands, etc.

Any ideas would be welcomed!

Last year I was in Nashville and was advised by the TB community to go see Victor Wooten's brothers play in a local dive.... I had a blast... that is the kind of thing I am looking for (not Cher!)

Thx!

+1, beautiful area and the weather should be quite pleasant in vegas right now.

another cool trip is mount charleston. it's less than an hour drive from the city, more cool views and a whole world removed from vegas. last time i was there it was 120 (in june) in vegas, but nice and cool up on the mountain. there was even some snow hiding in a ravine.

other than that, just cruise around downtown/the strip and find some fun.

Without a doubt check out the overhead light show they do every night downtown, I forget the name of the street but it is amazing. The volcano erupting outside the one casino is ok, but kind of lame, nice sound system though. And the water fountains are really cool at night as well. The only live entertainment I saw was the people on the streets trying to push everything from time shares to porn and hookers.

Hookers are the norm, but if you want to keep things toned down a bit you can visit a swingers club

See at least one of the Cirque du Soleil shows. Ka was awesome but in another thread someone said that O is the one to see if you're seeing only one. Go to one of the half-price ticket booths at 10am to get a good deal.

The 'O' Show is great. I've seen most of the Cirque de Soleil shows, and while Ka is more exciting, I think O is a better 'expierience'.

The overhead light show is on Freemont Street. That's 'old Vegas.' Less glitzy, and more raw. It still has the neon glow, but not as in-your-face. Main Street Station has a huge chunk of the Berlin wall with working urinals mounted on it in one of the men's rooms.

I've never been to the 'Ranches,' but I did manage to find a "menu" from the Chicken Ranch in a cab. Kind of creepy.

There are a few gun ranges off of the strip. You hand them your ID, and they hand you a sub machine gun.

There are a few roller coasters, and thrill rides. There is one that will dangle you from the top of the Stratosphere.

There are a ton of good restaurants. My favorite was a Brazilian steakhouse called Samba in the Mirage.

Oh, yeah, Cowtown guitars is a pretty cool place: http://cowtownguitars.com/

I enjoyed Ka, the beginning was really intense.
