Raising one from the dead. Thought I replied to this. The way it happened was in a fall, landed with my hand between my ribs.

Tried playing shortly after it healed and got so frustrated I gave up.

Back now. Slow going since my muscle memory is gone and there is still some dexterity issues but I will overcome!

Wussy. I broke the same metacarpal in my right hand and went to work the next day. Using a hand saw was a b****, but after a couple of weeks it stopped hurting.

To be completely honest, I didn't know there was something you could actually do to brace it, but oh well. My insurance definitely wouldn't have covered it, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway....

Only broken two bones- last bone in my little finger on both hands. Separate incidents... sled riding and punching myself in the face. The latter is a long story.

Heal quick dude.

Oh I was working the whole time it was broken (HVAC service tech) but once the cast came off I just didn't have the dexterity I had in my left hand

Four screws and a plate in my wrist; ten screws, two rods and a plate from L1 to L5. Told my ex- I wanted to be cremated and if they brought her the jar and it did not rattle it was not me.

This gave me a chuckle. Nice to have a sense of humor with things like this.

I didn't get a cast or anything. No one even asked me if I was okay.

That really sucks that it was your left (fretting?) hand. I don't use my pinky to pluck, so I got the less crippling injury when it comes to bass, but it sure sucked at work! I hope you get your hand rehabbed back to normal or at least as close as possible.
