I made the resolve this year to abstain from posting for a year (teach me some self-control), and make concerted effort to actually get out of the house and be social... better to play catch-up face to face when you don't already know the minutia of their everyday methinks. I'll see how it goes.

I get this. At the same time, I have a bunch of people who I'm totally cool talking to online but would utterly annoy me in real life. It sounds messed up and it probably is but its nice having the option to chat and stuff without them having to be around me...

But that's coming from an introvert who really does need to get out more .

I have been on Facebook since 2005 when you had to be a college student with a .edu email to even register. I know they did it to compete with MySpace and such, but I think FB started to go to hell when they opened it to anyone. I give it another couple years and Facebook will fizzle like MySpace did and something else will come out. I am only on it to keep in contact with some friends and family and for my band page, other then that it just does not excite me much anymore.

I just can't quit FB, it is summer right now in the southern hemisphere and chicks are posting bikini pics... just can't leave now, maybe when winter comes.

I see no reason to leave facebook. I might check it a few times a day when I have some downtime and nothing else to do. In the meantime I'll keep "liking" hot chicks with tattoos, quotes regarding spirituality and self-awareness, and funny cat pics.

I still have mine. I don't use it extensively. Mainly for joining contests for free stuff, like Framus/Warwick has those kinds of contests.

High five to OP. I have mine still just to message my Aunt on occasion. Otherwise I have it locked down so it doesn't push updates to my email. Months go by without me looking.

I have an open FB account solely so people from the past can find me. I seldom post anything or comment on anyone's post and hardly check it once a week.

I am appalled by what people think is important enough that they have to share it online with others.

I am appalled that people's lives are so shallow that they have to live it by seeing what other insignificant things others are doing minute by minute.

I am also disgusted by the fact that FB gathers EVERY bit of information that they can about you from your posts, your likes, your friend's posts and likes, the other sites you visit, etc. etc. and SELLS IT !!!

Can't wait for it to disappear.

I don't see much difference between FB and forums like TB...just a tool for interacting with people. You can control what you see there, and share there, just like you can here...no biggy.

I am ashamed to confess I have now signed up on Facebook in order to make a page for my trio.

Every time I ever posted something on Facebook, like say, my status, I got a Facebook activist psychoanalyzing me as to what was wrong with me, how it was my fault, and what I could do about it if I was to step up to the plate and be as cool and hip as them. Solution=delete.

That just sounds like a bad case of having dicks on your friends list.

No. I'm far too much of an attention whore to even contemplate leaving Facebook.
