Angry I did not realize how hard I work at my job until....

[rant]

I took on a position in a 2nd department. Bulk foods. Its not even a 1 person job, more like a quarter person job

The "manager" of the department complains that he can't get everything fully filled in 8 hours. I do it in 4 the 1st day im in there, and about 1 to 2 if I was in the day previous.

And my boss from my main "stockboy" position doesn't want me to help out dem other stockboys even if I do get everything done that I possibly can in bulk I literally try to stretch it out but usually end up in the staff room listening to Bongzilla or Electric Wizard. Its killing me. I hate not doing something. I hate my parents for instilling this work ethic into me. I hate country music. I hate idiots. I hate being sick.

Well, I don't hate my parents

I REALLY hate lazy people, and I consider myself to be somewhat lazy, tho more "ingeniously lazy", as I usually find the simplest and shortest path to a solution to a problem/situation/whatever....

[/rant]

Sigh......

You were lucky enough to have an employee preceding you who set you up for a nice easy job. You can go ahead and repay that kindness by screwing yourself and the next guy by working harder than they had, or you can savor it.

If you're finding that you're working too efficiently, they have drugs that can help you overcome that obstacle.

Yup. The not working and hating it/have to find something to do was instilled in me as well.

Pick up a book and study stuff while you are waiting.

Just keep chugging. My daughter is in the same kind of position and just got bumped up to assistant manager, even though she told them she'll have to step out of that position when college starts in 2.5 months. But they insisted and gave her a $3/hour raise.

It may be a regional thing, but most people around here are of the same attitude and have been for a very long time. Maybe it is our farmer roots.

I didn't say do drugs at work. Perhaps do them on a break, and then go back to work.

I hear ya, Nyarlothep. I was just in a similar position, except I was moved from a maintenance shop to the command post. Where I used to be fixing radios, NVGs, and all kinds of other stuff; I was removed to monitoring a radio and Blue Force Tracker, keeping a log of communications, and occasionally going to get meals for me and my supervisor. And I resented the fact that my supervisor had the brain cell count of a flea.

It was nice when they moved him out and I was "in charge," but that lasted for about a week till they got a replacement for me and kicked me back to the maintenance side of things. I'm still pretty bored right now, not much for us to do.

Peace,
Greg
