I am going to kill my neighbor's little yappy new dog.
He has woken me up EVERY [EXPLETIVE] DAY this week between 6 and 7 AM. I work nights (musician), and most times I'm crawling into bed at around 4 AM, so getting woken up at these early hours is killing me. I'm waking up pissed off and can't get back to sleep. Apparently they are putting him out when they leave in the morning, and he instantly starts barking and doesn't stop for a full 30 minutes. Then he pauses for 10-20 minutes, and starts again. This pretty much goes on ALL DAY, until they come home and bring him back inside.
I have asked the neighbors twice now to do something about their incessantly barking dog, yet it seems they have done nothing. I've suggested training, or perhaps a bark collar (which they refused to do on the basis that it's inhumane). I can't take this anymore - this dog is driving me bat[expletive].
I love dogs, so I don't really want to hurt the cute little fella (although violent thoughts are becoming more and more appealing). What can I do here? I'm at my wits end. |

sounds like animal abuse to me.

Oh yeah, and whatever you have instead of the RSPCA.
Failing both of those wear some earplugs...or secretly feed the dog a lot of chocolate.

I would try complaining to your local animal control office, they will possibly start with a series of fines. That may change their minds about leaving the dog outside...at least if it's barking in the house it's a little quieter.
After they get fined, they may realize that the money would be better spent on some training. |

With heat, cold, and rain, I feel that the way its left outside is much less humane than a bark collar.

A lot of local areas have stupid laws where you can't make noise that is heard outside of your property until after 10am. In my area you technically can't run a lawn mower until after 10am. I would venture a guess that a barking dog could be heard farther away than a lawn mower.
If that doesn't work I would suggest giving the dog some Ex-lax right before they get home for the night. I would do this daily for a week or two. That might make them rethink leaving the dog outside all day because it obviously ate something it shouldn't.

I was up late, around 2:00am, and was having a fag outside. I then hear this godawful screeching sound, it was like a baby getting murdered. It really scared the hell out of me till I realised it was one of the many neighbourhood cats. |

People two houses over have a puppy that they've been leaving out all night. The thing barks almost constantly. Then I have a Bassett Hound that howls/barks at a house across the street at all hours of the night. I've called the police several times on both of these people and it helps for about a day. Then it's starts all over again. Sometimes you'd just like to throw them a piece of rancid meat. I love dogs too, and would never really hurt one, but noises like that drive me nuts.

With two angles. One of the OP barking like mad, and one of the reaction of the neighbours. In HD, Surround sound and all that jazz just for added effect

| That's the way to go. If you start lodging complaints, you'll probably get action. Find out what the ordinances are...and use them. Two calls is enough - now you should take action.
If there aren't any, start calling the neighbors immediately every time the dog wakes you up and leave messages on their answering machine.
