I'm so excited! I've been waiting to get one of these for so long! My phone recently broke and I needed to get something new, and since I only had a 4 gb ipod (which sucks... too small), I ended up buying the 16gb iphone 3g. It's crazy awesome so far. Any of you guys have one? Know of any useful or fun apps to get on it?

iPint is amusing for like, 5 minutes. I have an iPod Touch and just upgraded my software to the iPhone one, so I started checking out some apps this afternoon. There's some good stuff, a lot of time wasters. Check out the free apps and try em all if you really want to.

Jailbreak it, free apps and way better as well. Has had over a year of development for some of the apps, so they also run better.

I bought a turkey sandwich today, but you don't see me starting a thread about it.

If you'd like to know any useful or fun condiments to go with it just let me know. I've tried them all.

I love mine. Having internet access in such a small package is fantastic. Our power goes out often during thunderstorm season. It's nice to be able to keep the business going when everything else is offline. I also like being able to pick and choose my voicemail. AND......I can type and text with my fat fingers

I have the 3G, love it.

Some essential apps
Shazam- Listens to a song and tells you what it is.
Remote- Control your iTunes library over WiFi
Tap Tap Revenge - Like Dance Dance Revolution, for your fingers
Cube Runner and Break Classic- both fun games.

and ALL free.

I'd get one if I wanted to switch from Verizon, but I don't.

My brother got his on Saturday. Loves it so far. However, I don't see me using all the features, so I'm better off with a Blackberry, thus far anyway. Contract is up in March, so I'll see if I want to switch then.

Same here. I'm not leaving Verizon. My new phone offer comes up in March too actually... I was thinking of either the newest Blackberry or they've got some other new phones coming out soon that are interesting.

I'd been planning on leaving Verizon for AT&T simply because of signal issues at our land but now that the iPhone came along it actually gives me something to look forward to in switching to AT&T. I will be glad to leave behind the Verizon crippled phones and the "pay-an-arm-and-a-leg-for-anything-you-want-to-do-on-our-phones" mentality but I'll miss the good customer service and call clarity.

I agree. Verizon is expensive, but higher quality signal, IME. However, their charge and arm and a leg scenario is ridiculous. $99.99 a month for Blackberry usage... AT&T's is unlimited for that, with each phone an additional $20 or so.

Yup...also you have to pay to use the GPS that the phones are already equipped with.

At one time text messages were 10 cents to send and 2 cents to receive. I remember when they really started pushing for people get the $5 a month text message plans. I guess there weren't enough people signing up for the plan because suddenly, right after that, the cost of text messages went up to 20 cents to send and 20 cents to receive if you weren't signed up.. gee, I wonder why it went up.

Yep. I pay $15 a month for 15000 text messages. There's another option that's cheaper, but significantly less. I remember when unlimited texting was $5. This is just ridiculous. I'm on a family plan and my phone costs $65 a month alone with voice and text only.
