i gave up around the 5 or 6 book, mostly because i began to not read it every day, which quickly lead to me losing interest. if i were to return to it, id probably want to start back at the beginning just to get every single detail up to then

I never could. Most tortuously boring books I ever tried to read.

Good, now you can get rid of those horribly written books and move onto something good. Tackle the Lord of the Rings first, then get back to us.

I've been through the Hobbit and the first two. The Harry Potter books are IMO well written. Just because they don't use classical language found in LOTR doesn't mean they aren't great. J.K. Rowling created an entire world and culture and made people believe it could be real. She created characters people love, and love to hate. She created original, wonderful stories.

I loved The Hobbit... couldn`t even get through The Two Towers. I found the Harry Potter series to be much more enjoyable as a whole, albeit, they are written for a younger audience.
