I get a wireless modem for my home computer and it's as slow as dial-up

The signal strength is 70 -80%. There is no increase in speed over dial-up. What's up?

Your answer is here:

What you need, friend is a new ISP.

The modem is a USB plug and play device. My ISP is an off brand called iglide. I am kinda screwed. I live way out in the country. No cable (satellite tv) and DSL is not available. What can I do to get decent internet speed?

so how do you get internet access now if you're not using a cable modem or DSL? I'm confused...

a wireless access point router should either connect to your cable or DSL modem...

Using a wireless router will not increase your speed from dial-up. It will only allow you to access your internet without using cables to connect your comp to your modem/router.

It sounds like your only options for faster service are to either A.) move or B.) wait for better providers to become available to you.

Buy a wireless card (as mentioned above). Verizon and Sprint have good ones. iGlide is a dialup service.
