wonderful! i had just posted these i love this world! and what do you do when you are having a bad day!? threads in the past few days and was often contemplating over the incidents happening and meaning of our lives and this world around us!
and a few hours back i was walking back from my drummer's place from a reversal and got mugged! it was slightly dark street with not many people around and five guys decided to mug me. they were on foot and so was i, first they crossed me and then came back. a guy tried to choke me from behind and others punched me on my face and around, snatched away my wallet, phone and kept hitting around while the guy was still choking me. then they ran away with everything along with my bass guitar which had my sansamp and fender tuner in the gig bag's pockets! damn
surprisingly i didnt feel any pain but i could feel my lips and jaw had swollen up. i looked around for my bass at first because here people dont know what a bass guitar is and all. those guys were probably from the slums so i thought they'd throw the bass some where. within 2 minutes i noticed a cop was taking his usual round of the area on his motorbike i told him what happened, he took me around the whole area asking me to let him know if i can recognize any of the muggers. but i knew they wont be hanging out anymore. then he took me to the police station where i filed my report.
i think those muggers were nervous them selves by the way they ran after taking away my stuff. and when they had crossed my at first i saw their faces and they were'nt well built or tall or anything. i didnt really resist or fight because i thought if i fight they'd hit me worse, honestly i really thought they'd take my money and cell phone but not the bass. no one here knows what a bass is, they dont know where to sell it, no one would buy it, even the music shops dont know pedals much at all! and those slum muggers wouldnt know the music shops so they'd probably sell it to some junk/ recycle people for dead cheap or something. its just the loss of my gear which is stinging me
i was personally very attached to my bass and the sansamp vt, i absolutely loved both of those. it was a squier jazz bass, my only bass by the way and i always knew am gonna have it for the rest of my life. yeah you might think the squier was cheap but here i havent ever played a better bass! damn that wasnt good. the worst part is they'd sell it really cheap, maybe throw it away since no would know what all that stuff is! i am even willing to buy it back but i know it will be a miracle if i find it anywhere.
am not pissed really, i have a gig coming up for which i'll borrow some gear from friends hopefully but it would be hard to get over it and will take a while to buy a new bass or if i buy it on a load then to pay back for it since i only earn from some gigs i get occasionally and music teaching jobs i get a bit. meh ****
had to share it with ya all. every time i think about it i know it can happen to anyone at anytime but damn it does suck way too much
oh btw, i look and talk like rocky balboa now its hard to speak because of the choking but i think i'll be good by tomorrow morning. it could have been worse, they had no weapons or anything but i only wish i could have kicked some ass

Dewey Tucker, who played with Bobby Brown and The Coup amongst others, was shot and killed after band rehearsal last week. He was only 24.
Glad you're okay, sorry about the bass.

A good solid day or two of practice and you'll be getting along with it fine. |

Glad you're okay, sorry about the bass. | read about it and thats what was going on in my head when i was getting back home after the whole mishap. but i think if i keep thinking about my bass and the vt pedal i'll choke from inside, minutes back i was ok but i look around i cant imagine not having my stuff. it took me ages to get it am still in shock though cant really digest something like that happened

who knows, maybe if you end up using the 5-er it might be a revelation |
