Nooses are really hard to tie.

I need one as part of my Halloween costume and I just cannot tie this thing for my life. At Least I still have a couple days.

But I cannot imagine tying one every execution.

Maybe they would just re-use them...

I used to know how- it wasn't that tough, & I was never a boy scout or in the navy.
Or suicidal...

Go check the emo thread, I'm sure you'll find some pointers.

A good noose only takes about 3-4 minutes to make, then again, I was a boyscout.

they are a movable knot so why untie them just remove the neck and then call next.

i tied a noose to get my knot tying badge in boy scouts

Hi.

13 loops (or 7) is the way to go.

A tie is a LOT harder IME, unfortunately a noose doesn't quite cut it as a substitute .

Regards
Sam

Same thing to those of us who have to wear them daily (even though my job involves hanging with 10 year olds all day).

Please be careful. Every year you read about someone accidentally hanging themselves with these parlor tricks.

You know why they use a noose instead of just a slipknot, right?

The noose goes in front and just to the side of the chin, when the door drops, the large knot of the noose pushes your head back at an acute angle and breaks the cervical spine (and hopefully your spinal cord) so that you lose control of heart/lungs. It was thought to be more humane than just letting somebody slowly strangle.

Unless you were really bad, then they would only give you one loop, that means only a tiny whack, and a very very unfortunate way to go.
