Im 24 and enjoy a drink from time to time.

Always intended to try a Long Island Iced Tea, but never have. Well I finally did, last night at TGI Fridays after a minor league hockey game.

Good stuff. Anyone else enjoy a Long Island iced Tea?

Casino El Camino in Austin has a great long island iced tea. I usually stick with a single-liquor drink or beer, though. Lately, it's been Gin and Tonic. or a dirty martini.

Actually, I always thought it was specifically designed for lightweights. Alcohol in disguise.

Fun kiddie drink. Now order something real -- like a Manhattan

We talking about the same drink?
A Long Island Ice Tea has a shot each of rum, vodka, gin and tequila in it.

If they're made right they can be pretty strong. A lot of bars around here wouldn't serve them.

Yup. No offense intended... they don't really taste like anything to me. Drink 'em if you like 'em.

I hung up the juice awhile ago, but I always preferred scotch or other old school crap like that. Tourists here love those drinks in disguise; LI Iced Tea, Mai Tai, Blue Hawaii, etc.

Now i'm really a lightweight... I like Pocari Sweat. Side effects from gigs in Japan.

I rarely enjoy any kind of cocktail, so thats why I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Its usually a good beer, a couple fingers of Makers Mark, or some Macallan 12 for me depending on the mood.

I have to say, considering how much hooch is in an LI Iced Tea, they don't taste all that lethal. The real value of them is later, when you can't lay on the hotel room floor without hanging on.

No offense taken.
Must be more than one way to make them, I guess. The Mai Tai's potency sure didn't seem to be in the same league, to me. Like any mixed drink I'm sure they can be watered down with a premade mix though.

I agree with all the other Polynesian drinks though. Too much juice, not enough booze. (Hey! Get that little umbrella out of my drink.)

Anywho, haven't had a Long Island Ice Tea in years, but a local hole in the wall once made some pretty good ones. More of a rum and coke guy myself. Well,......now it's rum and diet coke.

Hell yeah. Many fond memories. I don't get out much anymore, but if I'm in a bar and am firing for effect (and have a ride home), it's my first call. Methinks some posters here haven't had a good one.

I love 'em. I only wished they tasted more like tea.

on-topic, there is a local bar that sells $4 pitchers of LIIT (or kamikaze). $12 used to be the first hour of my weekend...now its saturday lol
