It's the goofy scrambled-letter anti-spam thing that Myspace uses. I'm all for cutting down on the spam, but for crying out loud, I can't even read the stupid letters like 50% of the time! I know there are better systems out there, that don't completely jumble the characters up to the point that they're unintelligible!
Sorry for the rant, I just can't stand that crap.

Sorry for the rant, I just can't stand that crap. | +1 I feel your pain. My pet peave is passwords. Every damn website (including talkbass!) has their own password, and password rules are not consistent so you can't set up the same password on everything. Every damn shopping site has their own password frustrating as hell. I have 100K passwords, the only way I can remember them is by having them written down in a computer file. Having them in the file pretty much defeats the purpose - anyone who gets the password file can get to everything.
Damn... Yeah... captchas suck. |

I've encountered some captchas where the image and code seem to be out of sync; IOW, I type in the characters that appear, but the page tells me I made an error and requires me to try again. So I type in those new characters, and get the error message again. And it goes through this over and over until either I give up or it accuses me of being a bot. |

Damn... Yeah... captchas suck. | Yeah, different password rules and different user name rules … ugh!!! For the various finance/credit card, shopping, utility, and other web sites I use, I try to keep a manageable number of user names and passwords, but some of them make it impossible. Many web sites allow you to use an e-mail address as a user name, but others reject use of special characters like @ or ".". My online bill paying and statement checking sessions often involve asking for a reminder from at least one of them, but some don't respond quickly. |

Especially when I have to go through 3 or 4 of them, taking me a couple minutes sometimes for something that used to take 5 seconds.

I've never seen one that was particularly hard to read It could be worse. I've seen sites who have the captcha images with images on certain letters, and you have to enter only the letters with the right image. Those are ****ing annoying.

What I did for a phpforum that drowned in spam was to instead introduce a simple question such as: what is this spelled backwards? Having simple logical questions will force the spam breakers to study AI...That's a hard problem and they don't have intelligence for that. --Kent |

Damn... Yeah... captchas suck. | if you get firefox you can have it setup so it memorizes all your passwords, OR just uses one universal password for each site. |
