Don't mess up with time. Just make the normal working hours 8 to 4 during the summer. That would have the same effect as DST.

I hate Daylight savings, in Spring, when we loose an hour, in Autumn tho, it's great, we get an extra hour at the weekend!

Plus it gives me more energy in the evenings and not so tired so early. Just my 1-1/2 cents

DST is ridiculous.

| Then, why not implement DST on Black Friday and Christmas?

That's a good idea. There are those who would say that changing the time twice in two days would disrupt things significantly more than they would help things, but what do those naysayers know?! |

Generally however, its in school holidays, so its probably not super important. Other than that, I personally have never been able to fault it.
Where I live now in the peak of summer we get light 'till about 7. This means after work I have maybe an hour, two if i'm really lucky of daylight.
Where I used to live, i'd get a good 4 before twilight with DST
Also, the sun comes up at 4:30am here.. Seriously, we need about 3 hours of DST imo

It's all about money! They jack up the time one hour so that instead of going to bed and getting our sleep like we are supposed to, we are out and about and thus spending money! Big Business wants our money! The Goverment wants our money for the economy! Bastards! It's the REAL reason of DST! Hells Bells, during the summer the sun sets at 20:30 (8:30 PM) naturally! With DST, it sets at 21:30 (9:30 PM)! I love hearing children and lawn mowers at 9 PM when us "night shift workers" are trying to sleep! Rebell!!!!!!..........show up for work an hour late! Everyday! (Don't you wish!)

Dunno what it's like for y'all in the 'states but for some stupid reason the local governments in Oz seem to like fudging about with the DST rules every couple of years.
Every feb & august we have to go through all the I.T. systems and work out which ones will change early, late, or correctly & then "do stuff" to make the changeover sufficiently correct. |

As a guy who spends a good deal of evening time outside, having natural light is a huge benefit. 5 o'clock sunsets are a PITA. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
