OMFG! I am SO close to throwing my computer out the window. 
It's riddled with viruses and adware thanks to running on Avast* for a year or two. I can't ****ing believe how incredibly bad PCs can get. I have friends who have Macs that have been running with no firewalls or virus protection for YEARS and they still boot up in under a minute. Or should I say I hate Windows? It's not like my PC has crap specs. But thanks to a crappy OS and loads of viruses that float around for it, my computer is on the verge of completely dying.

*Please, never use this program. Save yourself the trouble and pay for a decent virus protection program like Windows One Care. Avast is PATHETIC, at best.

That was done last week.
Avast doesn't help with anything IME. Not even finding viruses. OneCare found plenty that Avast never picked up. | One Care is looking for Spyware. Run Spybot and be amazed how much One Care doesn't pick up. One Care is known for not being great. But if you like it................

Having put up with Norton and Avast, I can say I do like OneCare. I know it's not fantastic, I've had a few problems with it. But after Avast, anything is great. I will download SpyBot and AVG though, thanks.
Still, my firewall is NEVER off, I don't go to shady websites or anything. I just play my games and listen to my music. And somehow my computer still turns into a pile of crap. Obviously it is my fault, a computer isn't going to get worn out if it is never used. I just don't understand how it has gotten so crap when I do nothing bad.

I use Firefox with the add on "NoScript" and have had zero problems with spyware and crap like that. I also run AVG internet security.
NoScript stops any javascript from running on a web page until you approve it. From what I understand java is how most of that spyware gets into your computer. The only thing AVG seems to find now is tracking cookies. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
