Woah. Where did you ship to? I'm guessing that you went to a UPS store and had a high declared value on the insurance. They whack you pretty good on ins.

No, they packed it, but I'm sure some bubble wrap, tape, and a box wouldn't cost $40 or $50, right?

First off, you're not paying for just bubble wrap and tape and box...You're paying for mark-up for the convenience of them doing it for you and the labor of someone doing it for you.

You're also trusting someone who knows nothing about instruments to pack an instrument well and correctly, yet also not insuring it it. All of which are bad moves.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but I did notice something about the guy who started packing the guitar while I was there: he had a bass cleft tattoo on his forearm. Maybe or maybe not, but I assume he's a musician.

Don't forget UPS also factors in package dimensions besides the weight of what is being shipped towards the total shipping rate. I can't tell you how many people are shocked when their relatively light weight shipment gets classified as being an oversize 2 or 3 package.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating - UPS are the very worst company I've ever, ever had the misfortune of dealing with, in any line of business. Just nauseatingly bad at every aspect of what they're supposed to be able to do. Do not use them. Avoid them any way you can. Seriously.

Hmmm, if I do recall, it was you, oh wise Stumbo, who taught me a lesson in respect! The pole won't be set up until the 25th, though I can take a picture of the box today if you'd like.

Don't worry though, I'll be sure and ask her if she doesn't mind me posting a few pics... you know, so as to show you all the great delivery job UPS did.

Ive never had a problem with UPS, except that one time they came and no one was home so they left a note saying they'd be back the next day. Lo & behold, they showed up, and I got my new fretless jazz bass! No problems with UPS here.

My UPS driver could not find his own ass if he started with both hands in his back pockets and I told him so...
