You know that feeling of, i don't want to say remorse, because, what's remorse? ,unpleasant satisfaction when you complete a quest that has taken the best and worst of your efforts over an unthinkably long period of time?
WELL...none of that here! I have just found the salsa of my dreams. So long have i waited for this perfect(to my taste) blend. My friends, in my moment of achievement, i invite you to submit your favorite salsa. If, like i have been for many years, you have not yet found your favorite, perhaps you can try what i am happy to say has completed a very important chapter in my life.
I present:Frontera Chipotle roasted tomatillo and garlic salsa. It may not be for everyone, as im sure many of the salsas i tried are loved by many. But to me, this salsa, is everything i could ever want, and i have been through 2 jars in the past week(just to make sure it was the one ) |

you will just have to trust that i did indeed purchase the salsa. |

salsa is very personal. You can't just pit your favorite against another's in a glory match. I have tried so many different varieties, and there are many down here in texas, and to my taste, this is certainly the victor. A close second goes to the warm salsa at cantina laredo, if you have ever been there.
i'm sure your homemade recipes are delicious, and i will gladly accept any offers to try them!
You see, there is a great divide in the salsa world. What seems to be very common around here are the mixtures that are very heavy on the cilantro, fresh jalapeno, onions, and red tomatoes. Usually a bright, fresh, spicy flavor. I prefer the other side of salsa, the tomatillo-chipotle combo. It provides a much darker flavor that is very smokey. While usually less spicy, i find these salsas to be more flavorful and enjoyable.
too much? |

too much? | Not at all. I actually have a few different favorites simply because there's such a wide variety. If I want a serious kick without being overly spicy, I go to Grandma. If I want the vice versa, I go with Emerald Valley. For a great mix that goes well with most anything, I go Trader Joe Fire Roaster Guac. So many Salsas, so little time. I will most certainly be picking up a jar of that Chiptole stuff though.

I make it every 6 months or so, a little goes a long way.

If were looking for something different than red salsa, we will make a green version of every thing except the tomatoes.
Also we will sometimes get Mrs. Renfros green and red salsa as a quick store bought salsa.
