I hope my house doesn't slide into my neighbors

We moved into our beautiful house 19 years ago because it was located at the end of a dead end street and we had two small children. When we moved into our house, we were told that the house next door had just been built and that tons of earth had been removed to create space for it. There is a big wall next to our house that was put in place so that dirt from our property doesn't spill into theirs. The original owners planted schrubs and trees into that space. The original owners have both passed away but those small schrubs and trees have continued growing and now are taller than our two story house.

My question to you guys is....will the schrubs and trees create such a mass of weight, the roots might even spread out, that the wall will break and our house tumble into theirs? Is there someone that I can call to make such an inspection? I mentioned this to the new owners but they said that they hadn't thought about that and although they've only lived there for one year, have the place up for sale now.

I doubt it, but if you really wanted to be sure, you could have and engineer look at it. It would probably set you back $300-400, but that is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

There's more chances that the roots will hold everything in place. With the possible exception that the rest of the ground is solid rock, and the only earth has been moved there for the trees.

Very true. I will check with an engineer.
