And it fixed this weird bug, but now it just went into "repair mode" and in order for me to get it out of it I need to restore it to factory settings AKA goodbye all ipod data. Too bad I keep all my ipod data on my Ipod itself and not my computer. This is just to let other people know I'm having ipod problems too now. If this message seems irrelevant to you, it's not for you.

Ipod/Itunes Rant:

OMG...here I go, paying 10 bucks to update my ipod touch and what do they tell me? Yes, the update I paid for will be deleting all 28gigs of music/video/pictures on my fancy little device. Great.

See, I'm not one of these people who keeps every CD I own backed up on my laptop's meager hard drive, therefore I'm not a big fan of the whole let's "sync" my ipod music every time I plug it in. I prefer using my ipod as a mini music hard drive so I can keep my computers free from gigs and gigs of music. Well, Mac obviously doesn't like me using it in this way, so I get screwed at every turn and I seriously have lost over 150gigs of music thanks to stuff like this. Granted, I do have CD backups but my god it is annoying to load anywhere from 30-80 gigs worth of CDs up on the ipod 2-3 times a year.

So, I guess I'm out to buy an external hard drive which will contain all my music from now on, which scares the crap outta me since I hear those things crash often and will probably be as much of a headache as the whole ipod dilemma.

<takes a deep breath>... ... ...

So, anyone know of a wonderfully stable external hard drive?

I have to ask why you would use an ipod that way? What if it was stolen, dropped, or anything? You would lose all your music. I'm like you as in I don't like to have large back ups on computers, although my itunes library is there because I use it as my main source of music at home, but you can get a good quality large external drive for around $100 that you can back up everything, put on a shelf and then not have this worry. The last two I got for business were rocstor and they've been great. People have different opinions on what's decent but these have been great for me and our engineers.
