sigh...yeah I noticed those. but what is scary to me is that there is an ad for a washer and dryer there right now, and that is something I googled three months ago and purchased.

What are the voices trying to tell me?

Other than just now, I don't think I bothered to check. When Bad Idea girl or Roadkill girl show my personal info, perhaps I might notice.

Your search history is used to advertise to you specifically. Go to musician's friend, click back and forth between the same couple items, and watch the ads change to what you were viewing

I understood the corelation between searches and ad banners long ago, but I don't ( I promise ) google hot young chicks selling t-shirts, but they visit me a lot in the banner to the left.

Explanation:

Ads here are given to you by tracking information given to Google. Many sites have tracking pixels to promote their business, and they store your information when you visit them, often when you look at specific products. If you go to buy a washer and dryer, that's the info you give Google, and when they are asked to show you ads (like TB does on their left rail here), they remember where you have been. Internet marketing divisions try to do this all the time.

I know this because I work with this at my current job (and my last job).

If, for the sake of Google, you use Chrome (their
Web browser), just go to their App Store and download Ad-Block (you just have to make a donation), follow the instructions there, and you'll be advertise tracking free like me!

So if you search Google for haemorrhoids cures, you're never going to hear the end of it.

I am particularly miffed because I browsed the leggings site and cannot find the ones in the ad. *SHENANIGANS*

Not quite. It's not a google search you need to visit, but an external website with google tracking pixels.

For instance, since I like Harry and David snacks for Christmas, I visited their website a few times in the last week. As I am writing this, there is a Harry and David chocolate cherries ad in my left rail.
