We are doing a biggest loser contest at work. The winner after 8 weeks gets $400. Since my weigh in last Friday I have lost 9 1/2 lbs!!!!1
My strategy is simple, up the quality and lower the quantity of food. I am sure that a lot of the lbs are water due to no fast food and very little processed food. My salt intake has dropped a bunch.
It seems that I won't diet for my health or appearance but money will motivate me lol.

to the OP, that's awesome man, it can only be seen as a healthy thing indeed ... and it seems that it could be lucrative too ... sweet

Sadly I doubt it will keep up at that rate .
I was doing almost as well as that up until a few weeks back. Lost 17.5 lbs in two weeks. Dropped calorific intake to >1000 a day, went to the gym each day doing 20 minutes or so CV, followed by an hour lifting, followed by another 20 or so minutes CV.
I'm still doing that, but my body has adjusted and im now only loosing about 3 lbs a week (and it's getting harder, recovery time is dropping fast) (but thats still pretty good). Just wish I had a monetary incentive too!
Keep it up

But watch out, fast weight loss is yo-yo stuff. Keep it away!

Something nice and small that goes from 0 to 100 in five seconds or less. It should also be red. Well the rich husband thought of it a bit, and when the big day arrived, the wife was very eager to see what he had bought her. http://pro.corbis.com/images/42-1522...B50C19E2A1C%7D
Ok this works best if you imagine it in the metric system - kg and km/h.
Edit: By the way, congrats to the weight loss, jady.

I've lost 2 kg's over a few days now buy just eating a bit less. IOW, I've been consuming more energy than I've take in, meaning I have to use the extra buffer of energy that I have on my body instead.
I see no difference between men and women how they gain or loose weight.

Each pound of fat is ~3500 calories, so that gives you an idea of how much extra you are putting on
Another thing to keep in mind, is when did you weigh yourself? If you weigh yourself first thing in the morning you will be lighter than the rest of the day as your body is dehydrated etc.
Also, as deacon blues points out, all you need to do is run your body at a calorific deficate. Average male consumption is 2500 calories a day (standardised "guess" at average BMR). The problem is though, that your body doesnt want to get rid of the fat. So the first major losses in weight is generally your body breaking down any excess muscle it doesnt need. (hence why I think people should always do resistance training when trying to loose weight, granted, you probably won't increase in strength, but if you are needing the muscle your body isn't going to scavange it as quickly).
