Órale,
Would appreciate a basic Rub recipe. I'll be using some Sweet Baby Ray's of course!

The rubs I've looked up up online and have experimented with all seem to start with the same base.

Salt
Pepper
Ground Cumin
Chili powder
Paprika
Garlic Powder
Onion powder
Brown Sugar

Cayenne pepper is always a good additive
So is dry mustard. (haven't tried that yet)
I have also tried a Mesquite style spice mixed in.

I usually do equal parts of everything except the Paprika which is usually double. Of course the Cayenne pepper is to your liking. Don't put too much. If you like it sweeter double up on the Brown Sugar as well. You can pretty much adjust anything in that list as you see fit.

I'm a novice at this as well. Really only done it a few times, but find it comes out pretty good. I do it a little different every time. If you look online there are zillions of variations.

I'm sure I would! I love smoky southwestern food, and Tex-Mex. If I'm ever in the San Antonio area I'll bring my friend Don Julio!

Garlic, +1
Goes on just about everything I cook.
