I need some ideas for a leg exoskeleton...

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking to find a way to walk for the next 3 months, while my foot/ankle is healing. I need to put something together that will attach around the knee, and support my full weight without putting any weight on my foot. I've been knocking around a few ideas, but I need some good inspiration from the brains at TB.

The only way I would do that is through your doctor and an orthotist. I messed around and tried to ski with a broken foot. (just behind my toes) My foot was fully supported in my ski boot and I felt no pain. To make a long story short, I ended up adding 4 months on to my recovery and a hard cast............to boot...............no pun intended I couldn't believe what the Xrays looked like, after the break and then after skiing with the break

How did the surgery go?? Did they shave your boys???

Before hilarity ensues, I want to say that I, personally, can't see any way for you to support your weight at the knee and for you to remain moble.

So, who can find the link to the army prototype mobile armour suit fastest?

Stick a broomtick in your butt hole and sqeeze it when walking unless you want it to go deeper.

FL, I'm not looking for anything of that sort! Wow, that's terrible. Basically, I am thinking of a PVC jacket that goes around my lower leg, and has foam lining to isolate my lower leg, and at the top of the apparatus, it has mountings to strap to my leg, above and below the knee. This is mostly just an experiment, and if it puts any strain or movement on my lower leg/ankle, it won't work. A normal boot setup will not work.

Come down to Florida and I'll build it for you Since you didn't answer my question about if they shaved your boys or not, I'm going to assume they did. You'll be too busy itching and scratching in a few days to worry about your exoskeleton device

That doesn't sound very good for your knee, not just from an axial load-bearing perspective, but from a torsional one as well.

Well, that's why I'd figure I'd bounce it off some other people that could think it through with me. I'm not looking to run in this thing, pretty much be able to walk with minimal crutch use.

I guess if you were just going to stand at a workbench or something for short periods rather than walk around on it, it might be feasible. I'd still worry about tweaking your knee, if not the ligaments; the patellar tendon unless you design around it. That said, I must add that have absolutely no training in this area.

It's actually gone.
