Today I went to visit my little sister, Cathy, in ICU. It doesn't look good. I knew that going in. However; when the doctor asked me about who could make a do not resuscitate decision, it REALLY hit me. She died last night, but they brought her back. If they continue to save her, her quality of life would be crap, and she was an active person. She wouldn't want that, but damn, this is my little sister! I'm not asking a question, I just wanted to talk. They said that she probably wouldn't last the week, if not the day. This is gonna be the worst call my dad ever had to make. I feel for him. I really do.

I just pictured the scene with MY baby sister in her place (she's an active person too)... don't know how I'd cope. |

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over four years ago and it finally took him. I have no idea how he hung in there that long. His wife had to make the same decision your dad does, an almost unimaginable one until you actually have to do it.
I guess when the time comes and you have to try and not make the selfish one and make the right one...
In any event I hope she and your family are at peace . | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
