Keep in mind that those aren't your only two options.

I love my Creative Zen Vision: M

Creative and Samsung should also be considered.

I personally won't buy a Zune, because in french, putting my hand in my pocket and saying that I reach for my Zune, would mean I'm grabbing my manhood.

Buy an ipod if you want to pay for the name.

Otherwise, if you want more features, better audio quality, and higher storage, buy something else.

I think Apple has the touch screen feature nailed down though.

I would agree. I absolutely love my 32gb Sandisk Sansa. It is (as far as I'm concerned), perfect.

Transfer protocal can be tricky, and the battery is not replaceable (although mine still holds a killer charge) are just minor gripes to me.

Everyone I know with a Creative Zen says they would never buy/go back to an iPod and I've heard "meh" about the Zune.

Me and the wifey own both brands....i give thumbs up to Zune.
Just the fact that i can plug in my Zune into somebody elses computer and download songs from their Zune program as a guest and not loose them or have my Zune program go all crazy makes it a better choice than the pod.
On the other hand....i think the itunes program has a lot more choices when it comes to song downloading.

That is a Plus for the Ipod for sure, I know like three people who actually own a Zune and like 43 million that own Ipods...

iPod Touch for the huge, all-crushing win. That little gadget is so freaking wonderful.

If you have a Zune you brag to people about how you're anti-conformist and got a Zune instead of an iPod.

But seriously, Zunes>iPods. I despise itunes (why do have their own special format? it takes up more space too and its the same quality as mp3). Plus, Zunes are just plain cooler. Unless you get an ipod touch, but then you'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a ridiculously small amount of space.

I really hate the way the ipod deals with your music library, and the very limited range of file formats it accepts.

They don't.

AAC is part of the MP4 standard. Plays on most devices. Takes up less space than MP3/sounds better than MP3. Only the DRM is proprietry, and more and more itunes stuff is DRM free.

iPods/iTunes fully support MP3 if you have older files, or files from other places.

Compare that to Zune: Locked in MS format. It isn't even compatable with the previous Microsoft "Play for sure" product line.

Is there a portable player that beats iPod Classic's 160 GB?

Zune has 120GB

But 160 GB is so rediculous, because you have soooo much music, its hard to justify it as a portable device...

In other words, what do you want to listen to right now? well here it is...
