Short answer, no.

They reek of elitist cliques and it's quite difficult to even get a response beyond "lol, who is this guy?!"

I've lost count of how many I've started at, and left soon after.

This is one of two I've gone back to repeatedly over the years http://www.guitarforums.com/

And even then, I end up leaving because of the influx of trolls. It's predictable and like a tide, it eventually goes back out. Still, it's a very tough place to take when it's in full effect.

This one is fantastic, but a tad myopic in it's focus ( but great info is still to be found on other brands to be sure )

I think talkbass is the biggest traditional forum on the internet. Not even callofduty has a more active forum.

Gaiaonline is the biggest IIRC. Talkbass is in the top 50 forums though, easy.

EDIT: Whoops, we're 165 overall.

Harmony Central is one of the biggest trainwrecks of a productive forum I have ever seen.

Carry on.

Not the biggest, but IIRC it's in the top 20. That's VERY good.

U-G has tabs and a forum. A friend of mine is a member there and seems to like it quite a bit.
