OMG that makes me sound emo.... but let me explain.
I have weird dreams. Things like talking rabbit-squirrels in a hollow log planning on how to best defend against the pugs that laugh like hyenas.
Unfortunately for yours truely this does not equate to a good nights sleep. In fact, I wake up more tired than when I went to bed.

At least when the dreams have interesting and surreal things in them they're entertaining and fun to reflect on even if your exhausted the next day. The ones I hate are the ones where I dream that I'm lying awake with insomnia... Talk about sucky dreams!

So unless you are waking up throughout the night, then you are having a bunch of dreams that you don't even remember. |

Theyre often quite surreal, that is when Im not dreaming of driving my car off a cliff... or visiting the slummy side of Hawaii. Ive never been there myself, but I know all about the part of town you want to avoid.

And just to clear up one thing - I don't actually feel physically exhausted after dreaming that I was awake. I feel mentally spent, though. That goes away much more quickly than actually missing out on a night's sleep, but if you talk to me right after waking up I'd tell you that I was wiped out completely.
I've had dreams where I've gone though a day of work. I get up, make coffee, drive in, start coding, post a few TB comments, wrap up, go home... Wake up and do it all over again.
That just seems like a waste of dream time, don't you think?

Or the one where I got this amazing bass, which sounded amazing, and then I find out it was a dream.
And, when they're not that, they're either violent, sexy, violent sex or sexy violence dreams, with girls I had crushes on in middle school wearing bondage gloves and driving high-perfomance cars into my house and setting me on fire or something like that.

Other dreams involve librarians locking me in a glass room and planning to slowly torture and kill me for losing a book. That wasn't pleasant. I woke up as the scalpel was an inch from my stomach.
In another dream, my houses ceiling fans were made of lawnmower blades and they were flying around trying to kill people, and then Bugs Bunny handed me a Bastard Sword with which to kill them... then my dog woke me up.

That just seems like a waste of dream time, don't you think? | I had something like that, only more. Back when I first got out of the Navy and I was living with my parents again for a while, we would go rafting periodically. We had a big trip planned and I was really looking forward to it.
Nearly two weeks before the trip I went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep, got up, went to work, got off, went to school, came home, did homework, went to sleep...You get the idea.
I woke up knowing it was the Friday morning we were planning to leave and started pulling out all my rafting goodies with my radio playing loudly. My dad came in to the room wearing his normal work clothes and asked what I was doing. I told him I was packing for the trip. He said "The one in two weekends?" I asked "What day is this?" I had totally 'pre=lived' nearly two weeks.

When I'm completely sober is when I have the most active dreams. Been having some pretty fun ones lately. Lots of flying involved. Also I've found that when I have the falling dream I actually do hit the ground but when I hit I bounce back up to where I've fallen from. I never die.

| | <-- That guy looks like me, but old. | | Join Date: Aug 2002 Location: Arlington TX | | | I'm pretty much chronically sleep deprived throughout the work week. So when I finally get a day off I frequently crash hard and stay down until I've caught up on my sleep. The way to tell when I've finally slept enough is when my dreams get interesting enough that I'd watch them as movies.
Until that point they can be pretty odd. I remember one that just creeped the ever-loving snot out of me. But when I told other people about the creepy part*, it didn't weird them out the way it did me. That particular dream could have been a Bjork video. All it needed was the soundtrack.
I also have had some awesome dreams that were how I knew I'd finally slept enough. I've written several melodies and some wntire songs based on what I remembered doing in a dream. In one I was at an amazing jam session where I recognized several of the other musicians as dead major historical musicians. I asked someone else who these people were, because they looked like certain dead major historical musicians and I was told that they were exactly who they looked like, and that I was participating in the fairly regular rock and roll heaven jam session. I got depressed because I figured this meant I had died and hadn't noticed. The guy I was talking to laughed and said "I love when mortals make that face. You're not dead. You're just visiting. But Jaco wants to play again, so you should wake up now." And then I woke up.
*an enormous ravenlike bird that opened its beak to 'caw' and in stead sounded like church bells (still weirds me out)

Im running and running, then when I slow down I look forward only to get hit in my meat and 2 veg with a full on levitating halberd. It was just floating there and then swug.
I woke up in pain.... Quote:

Last one involved that "girl who you notice but doesn't notice you" that I've been pursuing....was driving around having a jolly time with my friends and her friends, and woke up right as her best friend was saying "hey, why don't we go pick up Rachel!"
Stupid dreams.
Although her friends have seemed to have taken a liking to me since that dream...
The human mind has capabilities we can't even concieve. Dreams are little windows into those capabilities.
