What in the world is going on in Seattle. Wasn't that were the police officer was shot in his/her car while it was parked? I thought they caught the guy who did that? Wow.

That's super scary.

It's inevitable that some officers will be hurt/killed in the line of duty, many of the calls they go to our dangerous, and odds are after enough time, there will be a fatality. But with these four officers and the one a few weeks back, they weren't on calls. They weren't anywhere near danger. Someone sought them out and killed them unexpectedly just because of their job title.

The only word for it is senseless.

+100

It's crazy. It takes a true coward to go and shoot 4 people in the back.

I am not in any way defending or trolling what happened to these men, but right now we have no way of knowing whether they were targeted exactly for that reason.

There could very well have been a long history between them and the shooter(s).

Only time will tell.

That part of Tacoma (not Seattle btw) is not such a good neighborhood, very high crime rate and lots of gang activity.........very sad day.

Yes... many people out there hate cops.
(Is this news to anyone?)

I know several cops on a personal level.
It's unreal some of the stories they tell when doing routine work like traffic stops.

What it comes down too: each time they put on their uniform and go out on the street, they are in the line of fire.
They got to watch out for themselves constantly.

One cop is a good friend of mine. He says it is very stressful to handle the opinion of some people.
It wears him down.

I have respect for most cops handling their job.
I know I couldn't do it.

Yes.

Shooting them or acting in any way on that hatred? No, that is not understandable.

in fact, in two weeks time, i've had 4 cruisers show up to my home, checking up on me. why? long story (prior owner still has his "disconnected" phone line assigned to my home - it calls 911 on its own) do they beat the #### out of me while trying to figure out what's going on? no. do they place me in cuffs for no reason? no.

once they are done investigating, in every instance, we start chatting and talking about all the people we know in common.

yeah, it's understandable to hate cops.

Where I come from, a cop(a Sargent) witnessed a guy throwing a chunk of a cinderblock twards my head, after causing a scene in my place of business. The cop never even acted like he cared, even when I said I wanted to press charges. He sent the guy home and told me to get over it.

When I called the desk Sargent to complain, he sent the same guy back out, to tell me to get over it.

Condolences to the families of the officers and the bystanders who witnessed it. Very shocking and appalling story.

Spookaloo is on the other side of WA state so I can't comment on the mood (against authority) over on the Westside.

Never said that. All cops aren't bad. Some cops are bad. Some dentists are bad, some doctors are bad, some grocery sackers are bad.

cops get a bad rap because of how some of them act. I was just telling the other side of the coin.

Either way, no one deserves to be gunned down while getting a cup of coffee based on what their profession is.
