A girl driving a Toyota Prius was stopped at a light. She was smoking a cigarette. When she was done she flicked the cigarette butt on the ground.

anyway, the ops point is that someone who buys a prius must be enviromentally (sp?) aware and yet they are littering. what the op fails to realize is that most people who drive a prius only want people to think they're enviromentally aware and are really self important twats. while smokers are all litterbugs regardless of what profession they're in/car they drive/school they go to/etc. so to see one throw a cigarette butt on the ground is not shocking no matter what they're doing.
btw, i bet the woman in that newspaper clipping thew out her cigarette and proceded to complain about the dust in the air from construction..

I have a 'Butt Out' station at my house, and a smokeless ashtray in my car. If I have no access to proper disposal, I put finished butts back in my pack till I can toss them. It does make me a little stinkier than normal, but I don't care.

I find that kind of ironic - so although I may give you lung cancer through passive inhaling, I will be tidy and neat!
Killing me softly.......?

One car puts much more pollution into the air than one cigarette.
Drivers are worse than smokers. |

and a lot of times, you see people hauling ass in them on the freeway, gunning it to pass you etc..
no better gas mileage there at all... |

when i worked as a bellman many years ago i had to clean out the ashtrays infront of the hotel (it was a non smoking hotel.. as they are all fast becoming), inevitably there would be many more butts on the ground than in the ashtrays (sizable ones, of which there were 3 in close proximity to the entrance). one time i witnessed a woman smoke a cigarette while sitting next to an ashtray, when she was done she proceded to flick the cigarette across the drive way
i really have no ill will towards smokers, and i don't even really care about the littering aspect (except where i used to live and people would throw their butts into my car when i left the top down ), you know do what you want. i'm just making the point that if someone throws a cigarette butt out of their window it should be expected, regardless of the circumstances.
