This could be quite a disturbing yet entertaining thread.

....that when I tried to cough up phlegm in the shower this morning, I was so dehydrated and dried out, it came out like dried curds from cottage cheese. I coughed up the flakes from instant mashed potatoes. It was solid and dry like drywall dust.

I've never ever experienced that before when sick. Truly scary and yet intriguing at the same time.

I've done that, too. I had some nasty bronchitis going a few years back. I had to breathe a lot harder to keep up. So when I woke up I was kind of dehydrated and definitely had thickened/hardened my lung secretions.

While I was brushing my teeh I had a coughing fit. I coughed up a bit of hardened phlegm that made a noticeable noise when it hit the sink. My wife came in and asked what I'd dropped in the sink while I was coughing. She had heard it hit while I was hacking.

I told my co-workers on the ambulance job the next shift I worked. They laughed about it and asked if there was such a thing as a 'lung stone'.

OH FOR VOLDEMORT'S SAKE AAAAAAARGH

I praise Valhalla that my chunkylungs wasn't THAT bad. But definitely awkward and gross.

And no, I have never smoked, and never will. I'm just sick as hell since Friday and my house is drier than Hillary Clinton's..... sense of humor. I do have a Vicks Vaporub humidifier with that little tray to smear Vick's onto, I'm definitely digging it out tonight.

But.... last night was the first full night of sleep I've had since Friday. So the chunkylungs was worth it entirely.

On several occasions in my career I have removed brochial casts. I simple terms it is a snot cast of the small airways. Quite gross and very smelly.
