| I've done that, too. I had some nasty bronchitis going a few years back. I had to breathe a lot harder to keep up. So when I woke up I was kind of dehydrated and definitely had thickened/hardened my lung secretions.
While I was brushing my teeh I had a coughing fit. I coughed up a bit of hardened phlegm that made a noticeable noise when it hit the sink. My wife came in and asked what I'd dropped in the sink while I was coughing. She had heard it hit while I was hacking.
I told my co-workers on the ambulance job the next shift I worked. They laughed about it and asked if there was such a thing as a 'lung stone'.
