Unfortunately I do that 5 times a week. Plus the occasional perusal while at home...

I'm envious. I haven't had that much time to a book in a long while, and my "to-read" stack keeps climbing ever higher...

I don't usually enjoy reading, but if I get a book about the arts, or Nirvana, or some other bands/artists I'm interested in I will read it.

Funny enough, reading biographies on Nirvana back in high school was what started off my kick or pleasure reading. Then English class offered up some good reads, like the Great Gatsby, and Pride & Prejudice.

The books we had to read in high school is what basically turned me off reading i do believe. They where all so boring.

The only ones i can remember liking was "No Mans Land", which was about Newfoundland's history in the war which was extremely interesting. In grade 7 I also likes "Flight into Danger"

Okay.

I read at least 2 hours per day 7 days a week. On weekends I read between 4 and 10 hours total.

Last Saturday I spent 9 hours reading 2 novels and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff.

My father reads at least 30 hours a week and he has done that consistently since he was a teen.

I read Angles and Demons in one sitting. That was around the 7 hour mark or so. I used to read 6 or 7 hours every day when I was in University, required reading plus pleasure reading. I didn't have a TV, when I got a TV, that number got cut down a bunch. Then I got rid of my TV and it is slowly climbing back up.

I do alot of reading, but these days, being back at Uni, dont get much in the way of pleasure reading in. Will try and get a chapter or two of a book in each night tho.

Have spent many many hours getting lost in a book, a few times sitting reading at night from ~9-10 til ~5-6 in the morning, just getting too drawn in!

Well done!!!

Make sure you keep on doing that, reading is good for all parts of your brain and will keep you smart and alert through life.

I only read when I have vacation, or if I find a book that I just can't wait to read, which happens pretty seldom. I don't read fiction anymore, haven't done since about 10 years or so. Last vacation I read 5 books, most of them in one sweep per book, or during two days or so, that's a little bit of the problem and why I only read during vacations, if I start, I can't stop if the book is interesting enough to continue reading, if it isn't, I stop and find another book.

+1

When I moved out on my own for college, I didn't have a TV and didn't get one for years. When I was married, we had a TV and it was on for quite a few hours every day. After divorcing, the TV went away again.

I've found that:

TV in house = little reading
No TV in house = lots of reading

My daughter wants us to get a TV but I refuse and so she voluntarily reads about 10-14 hours a week.

I read about a half hour last night before bed and then fell asleep. It's gonna take me a while to finish the current 1000 pager I'm on at this pace...
