For some reason, anytime i mix powders into liquids, it gets chunky and i cant get rid of these dry pockets of powder. It happens when i mix protein with milk, and mac and cheese. Reguardless if i add liquid to powder or powder to liquid, it always happens. Any mixing experts here wana show me whats up? |

If you're having trouble, try Kool-Aid.

I too have a hard time w/ powders (especially in the summer time I like to make cold brewed coffee which is IMPOSSIBLE to dissolve sugar in) . . . so for my morning cup of java I decided to make simple syrup - which is just boiling 2 parts surgar to one part water which really dissolves it. (I add cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla to it too. kick ass! ) |

Crush the powder a little first to break up any lumps of whatever size.
Pour just some of your liquid into a container.
Add powder a little at a time and keep stirring to make a smooth paste.
If the paste gets too thick add tiny amounts of liquid a little at a time to make it smooth again (stirring well between each addition).
When all the powder is dispersed in a smooth paste, add the remaining liquid a little at a time, at least until the mixture is thin enough to accept more liquid easily.
There's two things to remember:
You can't really break up lumps in a runny mixture, it has to be a thick paste for you to do that. Or better still, avoid the lumps in the first place (see above).
And you can't add lots of liquid all in one go to a thick paste to make it thinner, it will go lumpy. Do it a little at a time.
This sounds like it will take ages, but it's actually really quick and easy because you won't have to spend ages trying to bash the lumps out 'cos there won't be any.
Let us know how you do.

Add a small amount of water.
Stir into a thick paste, ensuring that there are no lumps.
Add the rest of the liquid gradually.
Win.

While all the above are good for certain situations, the best I've found is:
Follow the INSTRUCTIONS printed in the package .

Pour milk in a blender
Put the lid on (if it has a smaller hole in the middle that you can add stuff through)
Start blender
Add powder slowly through the hole in the lid
Let mix a short while
Turn off blender

The stuff I have is easy as hell to mix, and even easier using the blender style bottles. A friend of mine uses maximuscle and its just a nightmare, clumps all round.
