I think I got ripped off. Help?

So I'm not 100% on this yet but I think I've been had. I bought a bass from a guy on the Warwick forums... from Thailand. I know, I know, I shouldn't have but I was getting a sweet deal (not so sweet that it was too good to be true though) and the guy seemed honest and legit (don't they all ). In his last PM he said he would ship the bass and provide a tracking number. It's been about 10 days since then and I haven't heard a word. He has my phone number, email, and Warwick forum name so he has more than enough avenues through which he can contact me. But most importantly he has my money... which I sent via wire transfer (again, a bad move on my end).

Like I said I'm not 100% on this yet because he may have shipped the bass and failed to notify me so I'm giving this till friday until I actually consider this a "crisis". If it does get to that point what can I do if anything at all? I have all the correspondence between us and his bank info if that means anything. I'm about 4 days from freakin' out so I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer.

-Kwesi

Have you tried to contact him? I'm sorry if you mentioned it in your post but I never seen it

I've seen how the Warwick forumers rally 'round when there's a bad deal, so your best bet may be to raise the topic over there.

Yeah, that's exactly what I plan on doing though probably later this week. I just didn't want to call foul prematurely and look like an impatient jerk

Warwick forum? Remind me never to go there. I already have way too much gas from this site. What kind of Warwick/deal we talking about here?

Even if he shipped the bass the day he said he would ship it, it would take more than 10 days to reach you. I know, Thailand's not that far from here.

Best of luck.

Hehe, I don't really want to go into detail as this isn't 100% but when I'm sure of which way this whole thing is going (good or bad) I'll be sure to let you guys know what I was looking at

OP
You sent money to a guy you never met in Thailand after a phone call !!!!!
I think that is so funny. How old are you? Have you ever been around the block?
Many good lessons are learned the hard way.

Yea, it definitely wasn't the smartest thing but I've never met anyone that I've bought things from on Talkbass either. If you find the situation funny then find another thread to enjoy, I'm looking for help not commentator.

Everyone makes mistakes, dude. Here's hoping that it's all a big misunderstanding.

Mind you, I would have called foul play by now.

Blaming the victim is always the best way to resolve an issue. I bet women who get raped brought it on themselves, too.

I had a super easy transaction with Kwesi here on TB...definitely a nice dude. Sorry to hear you made a couple bad moves here. I would never have wired money to the seller. Paypal only. At least you have some recourse with Paypal. Hope it works out for you bro.

Oh definitely, someone makes a mistake, it's definitely their fault and they should just throw themselves off a cliff .

TS, I feel for you man, you seem like a really decent guy. I'm going to agree with everyone in saying you definitely have the patience of a saint. That said, if I was you, I would make every effort to contact that guy today, and if nothing comes from it, call foul play, loud and hard.

Best of luck man, this sort of thing always makes me feel for the victim and want five minutes alone with the bastard who has screwed them over.
