I think it probably has something to do with my long-winded answers, they read more like essays and I think most people just cant b bothered to deal with it

I don't really get it in your case though, since you do a lot of pedal reviews/clips - I totally get it in mine as I truly don't have that much to offer. |

when i first started coming here, i wasnt THAT bothered with effects, I had a sansamp, and an ODB-3 and that was fine, but now every spare penny i have goes towards pedals, and hell i dont even know enough to make great inputs in conversation, im not technically minded, and im certainly no specialist.
LOL yeah the Line 6 stuff can go down pretty lukewarm in this forum sometimes, I kind of think of it like this tho:
if you have a pedal that can do everything, then what the hell is anyone gonna talk about?!
I had the Line6 verbzilla, and that was really cool for a reverb pedal, wouldnt mind the Echo Park either.
Also i've got a Line6 TonePort GX, so i've got loads of line6 models on my computer, and although I reckon I can get better bass tones from my real gear, its given me no end of help when recording guitar and vocals, it even makes me cheap casio keyboard sound like a beast.
dont feel bad tho, Id rather have input from one person who knows what they like and are just trying to help than 100 people who read the thread but just cant be bothered to have a say.
see what i mean about the essays tho? it just comes out.

I like to post my modified / frankenstiened / 4 to 5 sting conversions and the basses I build myself ... but sometimes people think that I am trying to "drum up business" ... nope ... I am not ... I don't make much money working on basses ... sometimes I lose money ... I build basses for me then it is fun.
The problem with posting is you don't see a person's face and you don't get vocal inflection etc ... So we get misunderstood.
So perhaps some threads get killed when people misunderstand. |

Some guy PM'd me about wanting to make his GK combo sound like a Ampeg Fliptop using only a compressor, and im really not the person to ask, but I tried to help, pretty much wrote him an essay on why GK, while being great amps, are generally not regarded as being at all tube-like, I also warned him that with some small GK combos, the speaker is rated much less than the amp, and that high-volumes could kill the speaker (in reference to him asking me why it sounded different at higher volumes) and that speakers will have different frequency responses at different levels.
I pointed him to the Tech 21 VTbass and said good-luck, and never heard from him again. I dont really know crap all about amps, tubes or the like, but I tried to help.
I know a little bit about effects, so thats why I frequent this forum, I dont feel like so much of a n00b anymore, and plus GAS for a £100 pedal i can handle, GAS for £1000 amp i cant.
and yes, if someone thinks you're trying to drum up business and be under-handed with the use of the forum, then people wont want to get involved - usually waiting for a more experienced forum member or moderator to question your motives. Even if all you wanted was to show what you've done.
Os from Music Electronix has been making a new pedal, and did a poll for TB members to name it, but even he has to be very careful with what he says about the pedal, even when it is the direct focus of the forum, he has to be totally unbiased. Even if he thinks its the greatest pedal ever, i dont think he's allowed to voice that as it may be construed as advertising.
sorry for the essay....again.

Hey, did you see the game last night? | ha, I cant even sit through sports games, hows that for bad attention spans? Hell i sat thru Rush when they played in the UK and even then I was wriggling on my seat (it was like 3hrs or something), except when Geddy pulled out the Ricky, that was unexpected.
