I-Tunes Hiss - Any Ideas?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've just downloaded an album from I-tunes (the fabulous 'Love Is Back' by Love Unlimited). Out of print for years, and with my vinyl long gone - it sounds great!

Only problem is, there is a lot of hiss behind the recording, bit like the old tape hiss!

I've got all my CD's on I-tunes, and they sound 'normal'. Even a couple of the tracks on this are on a CD compilation, which I've got on the Ipod, and it sounds great without hiss!

Anybody else experiences this? I've downloaded from other sources onto I-tunes, and they don't have this problem.....!

If its just that album, sounds like a problem with the recording they have of it.

It's my first Itunes purchase, my other downloads have come from Play.com so far, and they've all been excellent.

Hi.

^What he said.

Some "rippers" process the heck out of the original in order to satisfy the customers that are used to hear absolutely no hiss. Too bad that some of the dynamics are lost along the way.

Some leave the material alone to have it as authentic as possible.

I prefer the latter .

You probably can reduce the hiss with a processing software later if that's Your choice.

Regards
Sam

The hiss is probably in the recording, not behind it.

I've listened to the snippets on the Amazon download version, and it sounds hiss-free!

Sounds like what IGAM suggested - it could be just the Itunes recording of it.....it's pretty unlistenable, as the hiss is really overpowering, a bit like the old C90's copied from a million tapes beforehand!

Have you contacted iTunes about it? I've had issues with downloads and they always responded to me the next day. I'd send them an email or message about your problem.

You need Dolby technology to hide the hiss.

Leave it on there, it adds character.
