Good afternoon Talkbass! I have a computer dilemma that tech help is too incompetent to assist me with.

It is very simple. I have a Windows Movie Maker Project that was made on Vista. I had it emailed to me on my computer (XP)
I need this file converted from WMM to FLV.

Seems really simple?

Well, I have multiple encoding/decoding softwares, and none of them can decode this file!

This is very frustrating, and assistance is much appreciated.

Ravyn

Isn't a WMM file a project file for windows movie maker, rather than a video file? If that's the case it's not actually a video and you won't be able to convert it. You'll have to open it with windows movie maker and export it into a video format, which you can then encode into flv.

You can use Flash to create FLV videos from most file formats. Open Flash, then File>Import Video and follow the steps.

EDIT:

Dark Reaver is right, if this is a project file you need to use that program to export it and then use flash to convert it.

Looking it up it seems the project files are generally .mswmm, but it could've been abbreviated in vista.

It sounds like you have a project file rather than a video file anyway.

you need to open that file in windows movie maker, and then export it in wmv format, then use whatever software to convert video formats. wmm format is the uncompiled project.
