As much as I love visiting Chicago, I don't want to live there.
NYC is more for me.

At this point though, I don't have a clue where I'm going to be living next year. Which, oddly, has me excited.

Hehe... I don't mind visiting, but any place where I have to listen to traffic reports to know whether I will get somewhere or not is too much for me. I really want out of this whole state, anyways.

I hear Chicago is a great place to go if you like being shot at.

Public transportation FTW!

Depends what part of the city. I walk around my neighborhood and downtown without any worries.

And that is pretty much how it is in every major city.

Did I hear right on NBC news the other day that Chicago is now the murder capital of the USA?

I agree with Greg and JAUQO....every major city in the world has a section where you can get shot at or killed in some other way. Maybe those sections are bigger in some cities than others, but it's not like you can find a city that is safe everywhere. Just be smart and keep your wits about you. I'm a pasty white dude. You think I'm going to go rolling through Compton sporting an attitude and trying to pick a fight with someone?

By the way JAUQO....I'm still playing the CD I got from you. Good stuff for any time of the day. I love it! Thanks.

Funnily enough I really wanted to go to University of Chicago around my 11th grade year. Then I found out it's a boring ass school, and thus ended that plan.

So far Chicago has surpassed LA and New York for total murders.

Just last week Oscar winning actress,Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew were murdered.

I've been to Chicago three times and I loved it. Cubs games at Wrigley are very cool, and the restaurants rock.

However, arriving on a plane with the pilot announcing, "the temperature in Chicago is four degrees," puts a damper on me wanting to live there.

I spent five years in the city and it was a fantastic time. I lived in Rogers Park, the last neighborhood before you hit Evanston up north. I was two blocks from the lake and a 30 minute walk (along the lake) to Evanston, which is the home of Northwestern University. Nice campus.

Those were the days. I lived in a two bedroom basement apartment (could have easily been 3 bedrooms, it was huge) and paid $525 a month. That was 15 years ago, though.

Not sure how Rogers Park is anymore, but I still have friends that live up there. Beautiful when I was there. 35 minutes to the Loop (downtown)...

I miss Chicago all the time. Milwaukee has a certain charm, but there's no place like home!

Hey, it's just a short trip down 94--in bumper-to-bumper traffic with construction zones everywhere.

Believe me, I know. I visit my parents and friends quite often. I've driven that stretch of 94 more times than I care to remember!
