I will finally acknowledge the fact that a 4 banger import can spank a V-8

I intentionally turned a blind eye and deaf ear to import drag racing (HUMBUG!..)I can no longer deny that you can make some impressive numbers with a 4 cyl car that can clean house at the drags and can be driven daily to work. I still hate those stupid looking wings and ground effects though!

What's really annoying is some douche that puts a fart pipe on his Saturn thinking it will give him a 10 percent increase in horsepower.

I overheard some kid at Autozone talking about his Ford Probe. He said
"yeah, I should have about 400HP at the rear wheels." I left when he did and saw his 400HP ride. It was a raggedy thing with no hood. He had a K&N Filter and a fart pipe and had invested heavily in that faux high pressure hose decoration.

Plus the Probe is front wheel drive.

I'm not a car expert, but I think that might affect the HP rating at the rear wheels.

I've seen some well built 4 bangers that were very fast. Unfortunately, most 4 bangers that I see have cut springs, the back seat removed, a fart can, and nitrous.

And I've seen some V8s that were just dogs.

But having seen how well built the small block chevy can be, combined with the inherent superiority of rear wheel drive with respect to racing, RWD V8s are just a better platform for racing. Some 4 cylinders are nice, but if you look at the record holders, you'll see a lot more V8s than I4s.

I've noticed that as well as the so called 'fart pipe', it helps to wear your bassball cap backwards.....must reduce drag, I'm guessing.

My old `88 200sx 2.0 could take a mustangs of the line and lost them on turns. Cameros, not so much of the line, but on turns i had advantage. It was fun because it looked as basic as it comes. Didn't even have hub cabs but let me tell you, those front seats were perfect if you and a lady have no place to go. So much room, even with my fatarse. Wait, what were we talking about? oh ya!

Now that I have not had a non4x4 car in many years, ricers bother me less... In the 200sx i'd get at least 4-5 people a day trying to race me by tailgating me and switching lanes with me, cutting me off or pulling up and slowing down on a side. Idiots.

I like the fact that Acura's are cheap and easy to mod if desired

Throw enough money at anything and you can make it fast, be it a rear wheel drive V8 or a wrong wheel drive riceburner. It's about cubic dollars and not cubic inches.

Ive seen some turbocharged volvos that will give V8s a run for their money. When i owned a 944 Turbo, i had dynod 210 hp with pretty cheap mods. Bigger exhaust, bigger injectors, boost up, chips and good gas. Fun to blow past rice buners in a volvo.

some friends of mine and I have a saying "you know yellow makes it faster, right?" or paint it yellow and you'll get 20 extra hp. I have a friend that is all about Hondas. I hate them but like you I realize they do have some potential.

+1 theres a turbod Civic that runs at my local track running some CRAZY boost. Like 30+ pounds, not sure exactly. All I know is that it smokes pretty much everything anyone puts against it on the average weekend.

Not Uncle John's V8. Zero to 310 in 4.8 seconds, in 1,000 feet.
