I wish I were British...

...So that I could say "Brilliant" and not sound strange. Admittedly, this was probably brought on by me rereading the Harry Potter books and watching all those funny Guiness commercials.

That is all.

One thing I've heard the British say from time to time that I like, is the expression "I daresay".

Then there's Onslow's "Oh, noice!"

I've thought about living in England once I'm done with school. I find the culture rather fascinating.

I say mate, bloody, and a few others, I have no problems saying anyof those things even though I'm American.

I suppose I pepper my language with "innit" every now and then. I also refer to things as "chalk and cheese" from time to time.

On the downside, you'd also have to say 'lorry' and 'petrol'. They always sound strange.

Oh, and you have to eat marmite, too.

It would be great to take a trip across the pond, and ride the lift (elevator), store my bass in the cupboard (closet) of my flat (apartment) while I try my cousin Sally's nice buns (fruit dessert) with some brew (tea).

You don't HAVE to eat Marmite to be a Brit. It's a love/hate thing over here - a nation divided. Marmite actually based one of their ad campaigns on that fact. They were selling tee shirts with "I hate Marmite" on the front.

Me, I adore the stuff.

I say brilliant all the time, and I'm not British.

I also say things are daft and say blimey every so often. Also called people ponces now and again, as well as w***** (not sure if I can actually write it as it may offend a Brit or two).

I was raised on Doctor Who, and watch it religiously. Plus, I'm a total Anglophile. So I guess that explains it. That, and the whole Canadian thing...

That really shows how much of a British influence there is on the way we speak English in India. We use all those non-bracketed words you mentioned (rather than the bracketed ones)

For me the Great Britain has long been THE wellspring of tuneful pop music.

If I could afford it I'd love to experience my coda in the U.K.

So what is Marmite? What do you do with it? What do you eat it with?

Second. The internet says it is yeast extract, but that really doesn't clear anything up.

They said Vegamite is a yeast product as well,...although Australian,...I wonder if there is any relation.
