Any other New Englanders buried under ice? http://www.wmur.com/news/18262304/detail.html
I live in Manchester, but I lucked out and still have power, most people that lost it won't have it for about 3 days.
Trees down everywhere.
Let's hear from you if you have power and internet.

1998 was another story, though... |

1998 was another story, though... | I remember that one. This one is worse for our area. '98 was bad, but this will make it seem not so bad once the extent of the damage is fully realized.

So many surrounding towns got handed their ass tho. Worcester especially, where many many trees already had to contend with the asian longhorn bettle infestation, thus weakenning them. It really really sucks, but in spite of that, they're for the most part in good spirits, and everyone is safe, so for that I am grateful.
My Sister lives in North Brookfield, and we tried to find a generator as she actually has downed lines along her road, and owns an apartment building with no heat...finally found on in Lisbon, CT, and we wired the furnace into that, and NO FREAKING SOONER as we wired it up, the power came back on. Hours of driving and 650 dollars later, all practically for naught. |

Maybe just because I was like 7 years old that it was such a big deal- but I remember HUGE trees falling over, I remember tons of power outages and I remember everything being closed for the longest time.

I think there were around 11,000 people without power in Manchester. But there was over 300,000 through out NH with out power. There was a crazy run on generators. I think the local Home Depot got a shipment in on Sat morning and sold all 1,600 almost immediately. I know that my Dad was looking for one, but didn't have any luck. He has a gas stove so at least he has heat, but no power or water. He came up with my step mother the last couple of days to take showers and do some laundry. We had a few other friends come over to take showers. They're saying that some people probably won't have power back for another week. Crazy.

I haven't heard from one of them in a few days since their power has been out and they haven't been able to charge their phones etc. Hopefully NH is cleaned up by this weekend, I'm planning on visiting some family this sunday. |

We never lost power where we are, but in Leicester, which is between us and Worcester, they got hammered by ice. We did lose our internet for a couple of days, due to Charter's servers being in the north of Worcester, but that's all. We definitely lucked out. My wife works at the Walmart Superstore in Leicester, and she hasn't worked since last Thursday. I work in North Oxford, but since they didn't lose power I didn't miss any work.

We also had a portion of our roof and some wall knocked out by a tree, and all we had to cover it with was some tarp. Nobody could get out to the house to cut the tree away that did the damage for a couple of days.
