ideas to wirelessly distribute music in my house

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone have any idea on how I could distribute music from my computer to my stereo in the kitchen wirelessly without costing an arm and a leg.

I tried one of those transmitters for playing mp3 players through your car stereo and it was a no go.

Any other ideas?

Do it the old fashioned way. Crank it all the way up.

You should DEFINITELY check out Sonos (http://www.sonos.com). It can become pretty expensive, depending on your wishes, but it's a great system. Music everywhere!

like the x10 would do. Although Ideally it would have reasonable sound quality.

The sonos thing is great. If I wasn't moving out at the end of the summer I'd consider getting one.

I have two Roku Soundbridges. They can play music from your PC or the internet over your stereo. You can run your choice of server software for them. There are a few to choose from. They also have digital, or analog outputs.

There is no way I would go back to a CD player after using these.

EDIT: The new stuff from Slim Devices looks nice too. http://www.slimdevices.com/

That looks cool too. You know after moving to pretty much all digital music. CD's just seem like too much effort. They get lost, damaged, scratched, jewel cases are probably the most disastrous of designs. Embrace technology!

I agree, the CDs are pretty inconvenient. I do like to have them as a backup though. I still buy most all of my music on disc and rip it myself.
