IE9 and Outlook 2010 question

My work computer was just upgraded, and I now have Windows 7. Office Suite 2010, and IE9. Not a total dunce about computers, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to: make links I click open as new tabs instead of as new windows in IE9, and how to make it so that when I open an email in Outlook and reply to it, it auto closes the email I just replied to.

Googled it, looked on Microsoft's forums, and searched their page to no avail. Help me TalkBass, you're my only hope!

Ctrl+Click the links to open them in a new tab. Shift+click to open in a new window.
The other one is just an option you set:

Thanks Ray, that's exactly what I was looking for about Outlook. But in IE8 one could set the default to be openning links in tabs, is that no longer possible?

Not really able to find anything like that for IE8 or IE9...
