How much would you hate me?
My friend's getting married on Friday, and I've tried to tie a tie about a thousand times now, and it just isn't happening. I swear it's actually impossible.

Four years of college, and I had to tie the ties for two of my four roommates.

Watched a few videos, got people to show me how to do it. I'm doing exactly what they're showing me but it doesn't work! I think someone booby-trapped the tie.
Also, I don't have any part in the wedding, I'm just attending.

Put tie around back of neck, skinny end over right shoulder. This end should go no lower than your nipple. A little above is better.
Take the larger end, and wrap it around the front of and then behind the back of the skinny end, then full around the front again, NOT letting it twist at all during the process. Stop at the back, holding it in place. Take two fingers from your free hand, (preferably the left hand) and separate the front-most wrap layer so there is a gap, and then pass the large end, from the back, over the top, from behind, then THROUGH the gap you just made.
Then, take the back, skinny tab, and pull down in place a bit as you slide the knot up...straighten out accordingly. Fold your collar down. The end length result will vary, dependent if you're pudgy or not. The end should hit just above your slacks button.
Not the best knot, but one you can totally get away with if you're 25 or younger.

I don't understand why I can't do it, or rather, how other people can do it Quote:

| | | Tying a tie is one of those things you just have to do over and over again to get good at. If I can tie a tie, anyone can do it. If Howard Gardner came up with a psychometric to measure spatial intelligence, I'd have an IQ of 15.

Apparently when they said to wear a tie, they meant wear a suit and tie. I guess I take things far to literally.
