If one was to be ripped off on the sale forum....

I was wondering....

What methods can be used to either get your money back, or bring the son of a bitch to justice?

I'm always very nervous about buying anything from anyone on here who has no feedback... having said that i'm sure that your 10x less likely to be the victim of fraud on here than on ebay for instance....

Just use paypal. If you're the buyer then they've pretty much always got your back.

Officially, none. There is no recourse through Talkbass, it's caveat emptor.

However, the feedback is a good representation, but no guarantee.

If the seller has been around TB for a while, and/or is known from other forums, you should feel somewhat comfortable. All sellers started out with "0" feedback.

from the classified faq:

Q: Does TalkBass provide any form of buyer/seller protection in the event of a problem?

A: Transactions between TalkBass members are done at their own risk. TalkBass administrators and moderators do not guarantee that the transactions members choose to engage in are safe and that the descriptions provided by sellers are accurate. Members who choose to buy/sell gear through the TalkBass Classifieds understand that TalkBass, its administrators and moderators are not liable for any loss that may occur due to the use of the Classifieds Forum. But if loss does occur, it is a good idea to let a forum moderator or paul know, in order to help let TB as a whole know about bad business or scams. (clay's edit)

You might want to look for people who are supporting members, have been here for 2+ plus years, and have feedback.
