What's up with alot of posters on this forum? I keep seeming the same pattern, over and over and over again.

If someone comes up with an original idea, shys away from the norm, or is just plain wrong, people start e-attacking them for it, then e-attack their bass playing skills.

Is this just a forum of elitists and bitter bass players? It is a shame that people are dealt with in this manner. This forum opened up new worlds for my playing. I can't believe something so cool and connected can be full of people who are just plain rude.

No one really aimed anything at me, I don't have any grudges, but it happens everyday on here.

Just something I'm noticing happening, anyone else see this too?

This is the answer.

If you don't believe me, you suck at bass.

Hey Troy,

As long as music is alive, there will always be people who have opinions, and to varying degrees there will be people who will go to great lengths to express those opinions. This does not exclude people who post here, unfortunately, though the moderators spot it and come down on it swiftly (and they're awesome for it, too).

Despite these people, I think as you've stated, that TB is generally a helpful place, populated by people who are willing to offer helpful advice and share their experiences. When conditions disintigrate, the instigators quickly learn that it isn't tolerated, and I think it's wonderful that the system works so efficiently in that regard. Is there something recent that flipped your trigger to post this?

Nope. Was just reading alot of opinion threads. Every time someone has an opinion opposite the norm, its bashed. You do have a point though. Alot of those threads were quickly closed. Mods for the win!

Actually, I'm an elitist bitter bass player. NOBODY is as bitter as me. And if you disagree...

If you use a possessive in place of its homonym contraction counterpart, you're a horrible grammarian.

A fancy way of saying:

You're using the wrong "your" in context of your sentences.

Anyway, to get back to the topic of the thread, I don't think it's appropriate to retaliate to the instigators (we affectionately refer to them as "trolls" here) as horrible musicians; on the contrary, it can and already has lost you credibility from our standpoint, because you are potentially calling people you've never met horrible musicians simply because they disagree with you on a certain perspective. It's best to simply make the observation, and then let them fling unwarranted obscenities.

I don't play the bass, so I know he ain't talking about me.

However....if you say something stupid about the NFL or college football, I'll light you up faster than a man who drinks turpentine and pees on a wildfire.

Actually, I was referencing the fact that I unintentionally implied that any and all opinions are innately crass and offensive.

Dear Mr. Puncutation Person:

What is the difference between "Get him, boys!" and "Get him boys"?

Answer:

18+ years in the slammer if they catch you doing the latter.

Punctuation matters. Fortunately, the original was correct.
