If you found out your best friend was a pedophile ?

If you found out your best friend was a pedophile do you think your friendship could survive ? Best Friends are supposed to stick with you through thick and thin but man this would certainly shake my resolve in the friendship.

I assume all my friends are not totally warped and not criminals.....(well except Maki)

I suppose if he/she was fighting the urges through therapy and had not acted on it I would stick by them. But having kids myself if they took any action on it they would be gone.

Since I have kids, and want to keep them protected. Nope.

Like any other addiction, the abuser needs to stay away from the cause to keep the urge from happening. I am not giving them that opportunity.

Now, on the other hand, someone can be LEGALLY labeled a pedophile if they are 18 and shack up with a 17 year old. That's a slightly different scenario and may not be a disease but just poor judgement.

I wouldn't know, I have never thought of this. I had a friend, she was 15 and dated a 24yr old. Thats kinda, like a reverse pedo, But I talked with her and she got all angry, now we aren't friends. I wish we were friends and she didn't become a slut, I miss her.

Depending on the circumstances, like finding out due to an incident, the police would have to stand in line. Who knows? They might just disappear and never be heard from again.

I think the friendship could survive. Yes, I'd be a little freaked out, but without friends trying to help out it would be difficult to change. So I would try and provide support instead of shun my friend.

that particular person would no longer be my friend and i would make sure the proper authorities are informed of his being a pedophile.

Thats kind of a gray area for me. a sixteen yr old is perfectly capable of choosing to consent IMHO. I would not consider attraction to a fully developed teenager pedophilia.

It is illegal though so prosicution should happen.

That used to be legal in Kentucky up to about a few years ago I think.

Go to the watch dogs site. Lists some of them as pedophiles with 15-16 year old victims. Depends on the consent and laws of the state.
