Illinois Vehicle Tax Rant!

Sign in to disble this ad
Holy ****!!!!

Okay so I recently bought a super cheap car for knocking around.

1995 Ford Probe manual trans, as the automatic trans' crap out. Bought the car for under a grand..but since it was from a private dealer, theres dealer tax.

Why the rant? Here goes:
Private seller tax would be 25 bucks.
Dealer tax Im stuck paying is 65 bucks.

Crooks!

Okay..im about to eat an icecream sammich so I'll feel better.

Rant over.....

The day I decided to stop eating meat was a bad day to do so. I was going out with my gf's family, we went to a place called Roys, which is like a Hawaiian/Chinese fusion place that serves almost only meat. So I became a vegetarian the next day, instead.

Heh. NY would take that and turn it into a few hundred dollars of 'surcharge'.

Here in Michigan you'd be on the hook for 6% sales tax, plus your registration fees. Easily over $100.

People are crazed about taxes - for no reason.

Want roads?
Want bridges?
Want functioning traffic lights?

Pay the man. it's worth it.

In the big picture - doesn't matter. If you want infrastructure, police and fire services, etc. etc. etc....you gotta pay for it.

And in some states, I "thing" (sic) that the proceeds of vehicle taxes are specifically restricted to construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.

This is Illinois we're talking about. Our taxes are high yet our infrastructure is falling apart. And everywhere you drive you see road crews leaning on shovels or even sleeping in their trucks.

Illinois sucks.

Well after my sleep my rant is well over. But yeah Illinois is messed up bad. What are we 8 Billion in the hole...horrible infrastructure like hbarcat says, and not to mention that politics are stuck in the days of Al Capone.

Oh well, back to bass!
