I'm in the Air Force!

Just thought I'd let you all know that I'm finally in the air force. After getting through that circus called MEPS, I've swore in and now I'm waiting to be shipped. I'm on the DEP so I've got till at least late December. I might get shipped Nov. 10, because my number one pick, air traffic controller, came up and I have a shot of getting it. I got a 97 on the asvab, so not being able to get the job isn't a problem.

I can't wait to go!

COOL!

I came up with an new recruitment slogan for the Air Force and emailed it to the USAF's Recruitment Command! They like it and said they are still debating it...I think I have a good chance of it being adopted cuz it says it all!

US Air Force; almost like being in the military!

I thought about joining the Air Force once...but pink's not my color!

OH! BADA-BOOM!!
Watch out, follks! He's on a roll!!

Thank you! I'll be here all night...be sure to tip your waitress.

I'm kidding, gang! C'mon, what'd you expect from a cranky, ol' combat medic?

Seriously, congrats to you man. Everyday in the military isn't pleasant but you'll be glad you did it. I don't regret my service.

If I had it to do over again...I'd join the Navy??

To all my bassline veteran brothers (and sisters), Thanks for your service!

Congrats from a USAF and AFNG veteran!

Tip of the day: Stay focused all the way through your training, and do it right from the start of basic training. It will pay off in the long run.

Good Luck!

Way to go!

I was driving through Texas the other day. As I went through San Antonio, I passed a sign for Lackland AFB. Brought back a lot of memories.

I was in the Air Force from '68 - '72 (yes, I'm old!). I took basic training, two K-9 schools, and Combat Preparedness training at Lackland. Back then they still had the draft; so I joined the Air Force figuring I'd avoid Vietnam and learn a marketable skill that way. Ironically enough, I wound up as a dog handler, which pretty much punched my ticket directly to 'Nam.

And Pacman, from the pics I've seen here on TB, you look way too young to be a Master Sgt. Congratulations. That's something to be proud of.

Got it! Thanks guys, and thanks you all for your service. Yeah, I'm getting ready for basic way ahead of time, just to be in shape. I can do 60 push ups in a minute and do the mile in 7:20. It's something I've always wanted to do, and the air force is kind of a family deal.

Well, I'm ready to go. Thanks guys!

Congrat, and good luck. I spent 3 (official) years army and 8 more Air Force. Try to get to basic in the fall, as the humidity in Texas is a killer in the summer.

that's the truth. A buddy and I went into the military at the same time. She went in the air force I went in the navy. She got out in four years as an E-3, I got out in four years as an E-5. But I remember driving from Pearl Harbor to Hickam. It was like going from the ghetto to Park Ave. The air force stuff was so much nicer.....

Eh whatever. We are dumb by our very nature, just consult any Marine joke. I work on an ARB right now and I will agree there are some crusty old sons of guns walking around here as Tech Sergeants and such. The navy works you pretty quick to E-5, and E-6 ain't too bad to get, but Cheif takes some doing. Either way, glad to know that even in todays political and social climate there are still good American men willing to serve their country. Even if the OP had joined the Coast Guard Reserve he would be doing 100 times more than a good number of slackers out there. Glad to have him in the extended family.
