I'm getting really fed up of this family situation

Sign in to disble this ad
I've now been home for a good 2 or so weeks from university and I'm getting increasingly worried and annoyed.

I was initially quite reluctant to come home and my late arrival caused a lot of arguments...especially when I ended up with twice the amount of stuff I took (it was mostly books and stuff and I had NO money for storage)

Then tensions began to come about because of my music. I've been trying to get a proper band of my own and my grandparents in particular don't like the idea.

It's now developed to the point where I wish I'd never left Newcastle. I seem to be having arguments over the slightest little things, such as cushions being in the wrong place or my music being too loud.

I'm getting fed-up but I rely on my grandparents and family for uni money among other things and I also do genuinely care for them. I don't like being pushed around yet I don't want to be confrontational.

Any ideas TB? Before I really lose it?

maybe use this as a learning experience and try to find other living arrangements for next summer? i haven't lived at home for 2 years, when i moved out, my parents moved to south carolina and although i love them, i don't think i would want to live with them again although as long as i'm in school they assure me that i'm welcome to come back if i want to.

I unfortunately don't have enough money to do this and even then I'd still have the issue that some of my stuff would still be at home.

Hate to sound harsh, but Brummie is right.

Your choices are respect them and their rules or move out and pay your own way.

i figured out parents-
whenever they confront you just say "ok" and keep doing what ur doing
"take out the trash"
"ok" *keeps playing bass*
"i said take out the trash"
"ok" *keeps playing*
eventually they give up or just get pissed and all i do is keep a straight face and keep saying "ok"

i know very little about this situation but id say just put up with it as long as possible and try to find a roommate or smthin

So - your parents are your slaves who have to follow you around picking up after you and don't deserve any time of their own? But now I know I'm wrong - it's the kids who are right.

You don't give your parents any choice with your actions FingeringAm, they love you and want you to be with them - so have to accept you behaving the way you do.
Surprise them and make some effort without being asked - they'll be like this -

cheers

LMAO. I see what you did there. Might be too subtle for most to notice. But not me, you sly dog. I'm onto you!
