Sorry for whining yet again but I need to get this off my chest badly.
I've been home for the summer and the atmosphere at home is increasingly worsening to the point where I wish I'd never left Newcastle at all.
Basically both my grandparents seem to be arguing a lot, mostly starting with a disagreement over some daft insignificant stuff and then escalating. This morning I was woken to the sounds of screaming.
I'm the one getting caught in the crossfire and as a result both sides seem to take a lot of frustration out on me...such as half an hour ago when I was yelled at for leaving a bass string in the kitchen (it was there whilst I looked for the wire clippers!).
Any ideas guys? Before I lose the will to live?

Unless you are some type of guru relationship therapist, I would say that talking to your grandparent won't get you anywhere, because if they are like my family, they won't chance no matter how hard you try.
If the argument is not directly related to you, don't take their hostility towards you too personaly; understand they they are arguing amongst themselves, and probably out of frustration with age and life. It ain't fun to get old, and older people tend to sweat the smaller stuff and blow it out of proportion.
Lastly, be patient and understanding.
As long as they don't start abusing you verbally or physically, try to bare with it and be as positive as you can, and give them your love and understanding.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Grandparents can be tough. I don't know what yours are like, but my sole remaining grandparent (mom's mom) is 87 and really losing it. It's hard to put up with her because she repeats questions all day and sometimes thinks she's back in the 40s or 50s.

But really I hope your family situation works out. My parents caught me in the middle of a lot of arguments this past year and it's the worst. Lying low in your own house sucks, but it's the only way sometimes.
p.s. You'll be pleased to know that there is a picture of a Shergold double neck bass/guitar on page 78 of the new October Bass Player.

That'll show'em.
Its their house, their rules, and it probably stems from the source of the fighting in the last thread.
What were you doing changing strings in the kitchen?

Also, I was changing strings in the kitchen because I was playing my beautiful Shergold in the kitchen.......the tiles give excellent reverb.
