I'm going to Boston!

I fly out Monday night, and fly home Friday night.

Working for a couple days, but definitely going to Fenway. I went there back in 1993 for a Yankees game.

I'm excited for this trip. But once again, just a little too far away from Thor. Some day, some day.

See if you have time to visit the new Guitar Center on Boylston St.
Brand new, 2 floors with lots of stuff, mainly for home studio, nice basses too. I saw a few Sterlings by Music Man there and other cool basses. Here:

Boston hang

Hey man, let me know if you need any recommendations as to where to hang for music. I'll be at Gargoyles in Somerville on Thursday. 7-10

They drive like 150 mph around there, so RI is only an hour or so away...

I used to love living a few blocks from Fenway, except when I needed to park after work on a game day.

About a 20 minute drive to Somerville from Waltham. There's a couple cool spots in Waltham on Moody Street downtown "the Skelig" but it's the burbs. Places I'd recommend for live music are Johnny Ds (Davis Sq Somerville).. Cantab lounge, The Middle East (central sq Cambridge) new House of Blues is right across from Fenway Park on Lansdowne. Plenty more.. All depends on what type of music you're into. PM me for phone and email

Maki, it's been a while since I've been on TB... you need a new pic. That one has lost it's initial disturbing factor

I used to work a few blocks away from there!

There's a Bertucci's (and a couple other restaurants plus a Costco) across I-95

will you have a car? what kind of food you interested in?

here's one of my favorite places for a mega selection of regional micros and several imports: Horseshoe Pub

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,0.019226&z=16

there's also a Naked Fish pretty much right across the street

all the best,

R

Will you be renting a car? The sox are on the road next week. They'll be back on Friday.

I will have a rental car, and I plan on doing plenty of driving around.

I don't like seafood or designer vegetables, but I do like clam chowder. I did find out though that east coast clam chowder is much different than what is served out here. Up this way, you get a bowl of chowder full of potatos and a couple small bites of clam. On the east coast, you get a big bowl of clam pieces with a little chowder and a few potatos. I like the west coast version better.

I don't expect to find any great Mexican food in the Boston area, so I'll be looking for Italian and traditional American food.

For chowdah there's red and there's white. Don't forget the clam cakes too.

For Italian food you can either head to the North End of Boston or to Providence.

Taqueria Mexico in Waltham is way above most others round here.. For Italian just head to the north end.. Ixtapa in Lexington is good as well..

Red Bones un Summerville is some of the best BBQ and micros in the 'downtown' Boston area.

the best Brazilian food outside of Brazil is in 'fabulous' Framingham (the largest Brazilian population outside of Brazil ... I can only imagine how rowdy it got a fw weeks back when the US lost to Brazil in the finals )

so what would you like to see besides local gigs? and how long are you willing to drive? (none of the local give reference to distance, it's all relative to the drive time)

all the best,

R
